Reflecting on my progress

Make Things Happen imageSince I’ve been a bit lax(**cough**-understatement) in posting of the last couple months, I decided I would take some time to reflect on where I stand in my progress…good or bad.

It was early 2012 when I started attempting to come out of my slumber and move forward again on my work from home and internet marketing dreams. Wow–another 4 years gone by in the blink of an eye.

I briefly heated up and then died out again going almost 17 months between posts here — nothing after July 2012 until I resurfaced again in January 2014.

On August 5, 2014 I posted Figuring Out A Format To Help Create Momentum  in which I stated the format I was going to have here in the “Daily Journal” section. That format was going to be:

  • Quick, or occasionally not so quick, blurb about day job
  • Update on other activities of the day, if any
  • Update on progress made or not made on internet projects
  • Anything extra I feel like throwing in

With that simple format, I was hoping to get things rolling on a somewhat consistent basis. In the following 597 days, I’ve only managed to motivate myself to create 46 posts(47 now…yay :))

Another Day Another Adventure imageAlthough I’ve done better overall the last few months, an average of 2-3 posts per month is not exactly the consistency I was shooting for. So, I’ll just have to accept the the past and keep working on improving the future. While another 4 years has flown by, the truth is that every new day will always be another new opportunity to improve.

So, I might as well start doing now what I stated I would be doing back in August 2014 and see if that format will suit me here on this blog.

Day job – Meh. Getting ready to head in to work shortly. Our latest DM is there right now and we’ll be told how terrible we’re doing and how much we suck. Good times, good times. This type of stuff and how most companies are run these days are why I should be driving myself forward with these online endeavors.

In my 2 ½ years at this job, we’ve gone through about 5 other district managers. Like so many companies, mine is all about the bottom line. They want every person to do the work of two people for the absolute lowest pay they feel they can get away with. It’s a sad state of affairs and if I could walk away from this particular position, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Can’t do that just yet, but due do the poor relationship I have with this current DM, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did me a favor and cut me loose. If that happens, I might give her thanks and a hug, lol.

Other activities – Nothing much other than doing some dishes and laundry. I do need to get some housecleaning done, but that’s not gonna happen today. 🙂

Internet projects – Another meh, lol. A fair amount of thinking, but no doing. That won’t cut it any longer. Look for some significant improvements in this area quickly.

No time to throw anything extra in today. Have to hit the shower and head off to the job.

As always, feel free to share any of your thoughts and comments here.

Have a great day and keep moving forward.
